PORTER and Converse Unveil
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of its iconic “SMOKY” series, PORTER, a renowned Japanese luggage company, has once again teamed up with Converse for a new collaboration. The duo has crafted a fresh version of the footwear brand’s classic Chuck Taylor All-Star silhouette, adding a signature touch of PORTER's “SMOKY” design language.
Having collaborated with many of the industry's leading labels, Converse has chosen to align with PORTER for the current season. PORTER, known for its high-quality bags and accessories, brings a unique approach to the table, blending traditional and modern aesthetics in a refreshing way.
The resulting joint sneaker comes in a chocolate brown color, with the traditional silhouette and detailing of the Chuck Taylor All-Star maintained. The shoe boasts a CORDURA®︎ Duck fabric construction, a material PORTER has utilized across the rest of its “SMOKY” line. The pair is further embellished with exposed white stitching throughout, providing a striking contrast against the brown fabric.
Signature Converse branding adorns the shoe's heel and sole, while the insoles pop in PORTER's signature orange color. The shoe also features a PORTER Tokyo tag on the rear and additional subtle branding on the insole, rounding out the design.
Interestingly, this is not the first time PORTER has put its spin on Converse’s beloved Chuck Taylor All-Star. In 2017, PORTER revamped the shoe to commemorate the silhouette’s 100th anniversary. Not just limited to footwear, PORTER has also recently collaborated with brands like Palace and Starbucks Japan for a full collection and a line of drum bags and tumblers, respectively.
The PORTER x Converse “SMOKY” Chuck Taylor All-Star is available for approximately $138 USD. Shoe enthusiasts and PORTER fans alike can find the collaboration at PORTER stores nationwide, as well as on the brand’s online store.
This collaborative effort beautifully captures the essence of both brands, resulting in a product that not only celebrates history but also looks toward the future. It's a testament to the power of partnerships in the fashion industry, proving that when two creative forces come together, the outcome can be something truly special.
